Currently, rapid development of information
technology has provided new opportunities to organisation toward
increasing the effectiveness of collaboration and teamwork management.
Thus the virtual team approach has been implemented in numerous of
field. However, there is limited study of virtual team in construction
project management. Currently IBS project is still based on traditional
construction process which is isolation team working environment.
Therefore this approach has been declared as a main barrier to ensure
cooperative working relation in term of communication and information
in between project stakeholders. Thus, this paper through literature
review is attempted to present a discussion of the virtual team approach
toward IBS project in developing effective team communication during
construction project.

Abstract

Currently, rapid
development of information technology has provided new opportunities to

in construction project management. Currently IBS project is still based

Virtual R&D Teams: A New Model for Product Development Other Languages

Abstract:
Increased global competitions have urged small and medium
enterprises (SMEs) to develop new products faster. Virtual research and
development (R&D) teams in SMEs can offer a solution to speed up
time-to-market of new product development (NPD). However, factors that
affect the effectiveness of virtual teams for NPD are still not
adequately verified. This paper presents the correlations between
virtual R&D team constructs and virtual team effectiveness by
developing a “Virtual Research and Development Team” (ViR&DT) model.
The items, which may influence the effectiveness of virtual teams, are
taken from the literature. Through an online survey and by application
of structural equation modeling (SEM) technique, the proposed model
(ViR&DT) has been tested. The results suggest that the process
construct is strongly correlated to the effectiveness of virtual teams.
Therefore, NPD managers in virtual R&D teams should concentrate on
the process of new product development rather than simply equipping the
teams with the latest technology or employing highly qualified experts.
Further empirical research is recommended to fully explore and
appreciate the breadth of application of the ViR&DT model. This
paper is a part of my PhD journey.

reach others in the field, advancing knowledge and encouraging
communication between groups with similar research interest. One of the
most important and possibly the least well understood aspects of the
publication process is the choice of a suitable journal that is likely
to improve your research visibility and impact. For instance, publishing
your article in an Open Access journal means that more people are
likely to see it, simply because more people will be able to access it.
So, the greater visibility achieved with OA may allow you to reach more
impact and potential collaborators easily. In this presentation, I
introduce some of the most important criteria to keep in mind when
choosing a journal that is a good match for your research and promise

Abstract

In spite of the increasing demand for
virtual cooperation, still relatively little is known about the
knowledge, skills, abilities,
and other characteristics (KSAOs) individuals need
for virtual teamwork. Thus, the current paper aims at synthesizing the
existing literature into a comprehensive model of
virtual teamwork KSAOs. To this end, we review (a) existing frameworks
of
KSAO requirements for virtual teamwork, (b)
challenges posed by different facets of virtuality, and (c) KSAOs
particularly
relevant for meeting the identified challenges. The
results of this review are integrated into a holistic model of virtual
teamwork KSAOs with distal characteristics
(personality, experience) and more proximal qualities (knowledge,
skills, and motivation).
Research gaps as well as avenues for future
research will be outlined and applications for virtual team staffing and
training
will be discussed.

Collaborative strategies for distributed teams: Innovation through interlaced collaborative writing













Abstract:
This
paper discusses a case history of a successful, highly-productive team
that collaborates on a regular basis, solely through virtual means. In
the article, we will discuss the importance of psychological safety as a
key foundation in collaborative work and the affordances that result
from building and maintaining this foundation, including the co-creation
of knowledge and an increase in team productivity. We provide a
postmortem of our collaborative writing process, which has resulted in a
series of successful articles, presentations, and posters. In this case
history, we will discuss our collaborative processes, highlighting
significant decisions, choices, and failures; we will supplement the
case with anecdotal evidence. Finally, we will provide a set of concrete
strategies/guidelines to benefit others interested in distributed
collaboration. Ultimately, we present this case as a model for
collaborative writing and have termed this innovative process
“interlaced collaborative writing.”
